TelemedtoIndia Talk to a specialist

Talk to the specialist before you travel

A teleconsultation is a live video conversation with the senior doctor who would actually treat you in India. You send your reports, a specialist reviews them, and you speak face to face, all before you spend a rupee on a flight. It is free to you, and you are never committed to travelling by having the conversation.

Why talk first, instead of just booking

Most people decide whether to travel abroad for treatment on the strength of a brochure, a price list and a few emails with a coordinator who is not a doctor. For a decision this large, that is not enough. You deserve to hear it from the person who would perform the treatment, in their own words, with your own reports in front of them.

A teleconsultation answers the questions a brochure cannot. Is this treatment right for me? What are the real risks in my case? How long will I need to stay? What happens if it does not work? And, just as importantly, should I even travel, or can this be managed closer to home? A good specialist will tell you if staying home is the better option.

How it works, step by step

  1. Send your reports. Scans, biopsies, discharge summaries, whatever you have, on WhatsApp or by email. If you are missing something, we tell you what matters.
  2. A specialist reviews your file. The consultant who would treat you reads it and forms an initial view. This is a real doctor, not a call-centre reply.
  3. We arrange your video call. At a time that works in your time zone, with an interpreter if you want one.
  4. You talk it through. Ask everything. The treatment, the risks, the timeline, the cost, and whether travelling is the right move at all.
  5. You receive it in writing. A summary of the opinion, and if you choose to go further, a written cost estimate before you commit to anything.
  6. You decide, in your own time. If you go ahead, we help with the visa, the travel and the arrival. If you do not, that is a perfectly normal outcome and it has cost you nothing.

Who this is for

Teleconsultation suits anyone weighing treatment in India from abroad: someone recently diagnosed who wants a specialist opinion, someone comparing India with staying home or going elsewhere, or a family member arranging care for a relative. We regularly help patients from across Africa, including Nigeria, Kenya, Ethiopia, Ghana, Tanzania and Uganda, from Central Asia, including Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan, and from the Pacific.

Is it really free?

Yes, and it is worth being clear about why, because "free" makes people suspicious. Partner hospitals pay us when a patient chooses to be treated with them. That means the consultation costs you nothing, and because our fee comes from the hospital rather than from you, your treatment bill is never increased to cover it. You will see the full estimated cost of any treatment in writing before you decide.

Questions patients ask

Do I have to travel if I have the consultation?

No. The consultation exists so you can decide with good information. Some patients learn their condition can be managed at home, and a specialist telling you that is a useful answer. You are never committed by talking.

Who exactly will I speak to?

The senior consultant at the partner hospital who would take on your case, not a coordinator or a salesperson. You are told their name, hospital and credentials before the call so you can check them yourself.

What reports do I need to send?

Send whatever you already have: scans and their reports, biopsy or pathology results, discharge summaries and a list of your current medicines. If something important is missing, we will tell you what to ask your local doctor for.

What if my English is not strong?

Tell us the language you are most comfortable in and we arrange an interpreter for the call. You should be explaining your symptoms in the language you actually think in.

Is my medical information kept private?

Your reports are shared only with the specialist reviewing your case, for the purpose of advising you. They are not published or passed to anyone outside that.

How soon can I speak to someone?

A specialist usually responds within 24 to 48 hours of receiving your reports, and the video call is then arranged at a time that works for you.
